IT
hello,
I have the IP office 406 configured on lan 192.168.0.0 with ip 192.168.0.139
Reading the manual I set up default gw in IProuting in manager in this way:
ip address: empty
net mask: empty
gateway: ip addr of the gateway from 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.1.0 (that is 192.168.0.11)
destination: lan1
metric: empty

I can use 5610 ip telephones on 192.168.0.0 lan.
I would like to place some telephones on 192.168.1.0 lan and some telephones on 192.168.2.0 lan.
I began with the first lan. And to verify correct cnfiguration of routing I placed a PC on 192.168.1.0 lan and set 192.168.1.11 as gw and I'm able to ping the manager ip (192.168.0.23) so the packets con go from .1 to .0 and come back.
I configured a 5610 phone on lan .1 with:
ip 192.168.1.31
router: 192.168.1.11 (that is the same machine as 192.168.0.11 working with the test pc)
netmask:255.255.255.0
tftp: 192.168.0.23
when booting the phone it remains at the message
finding router
and no way....

putting this phone on .0 lan and configuring it for that, it works, so the hw is ok... and I found the internal ID assigned to it

Any hints on what else to do at ip office side??

I presume I have to do anything, otherwise one could put a phone and intrude himself.... in some way.. Do I have to grant on the ip office this IP/hw?
the error message seems to say that the phone is not able to reach 192.168.1.11, or not?

Thanks in advance

Gianluca

Can you Ping the IPO from the 192.168.1.0 network?

did you change the phone in manager ?
you should give the phone the phone an ip adres of the remote location
it looks like you did but did not mention that you did change it in your config

i also can't find if you did set the callsv well?
this should be the ip adres of the ip office

Yes, I can ping the 192.168.0.139 ip addr from a pc set up on 192.168.1.0 network, with def gw as the router defined on the phone (192.168.1.11)
And also I set callsv on the phone with ip addr of the ipo
I noticed that if I set the router to 0.0.0.0, I have not the message regading router but at a certain point the phone remains at the message "discovering 192.168.0.139"
On the manager I changed the internal config for the phone specifying 192.168.1.31 as the ip addr in voip tab.
In ipo sysmonitor I enabled the routing table print mode and it seems ok.
Is there an utility to have the ipo ping the 192.168.1.0 lan?
On the manual it seems that the ipo is able only to establish vpn channels.... does this also apply to a simple case like mine where you have to lan interconnected with a gateway or not.
I didn't find any example like mine on the manual, but I think it should be a quite normal one, or not?

oke when the router is set it just cabn't find the ip office from the gateway
is there a firewall on the network ?

yes, the 192.168.1(.0).11 is a linux gateway/firewall (iptables).
But it accepts all the traffic from .1 to .0 and way back.
Infact connecting a pc on .1 lan I'm able to access without problems lan 0 and viceversa...

phone has this settings ?

phone ip : 192.168.1.131
callsv : 192.168.0.139
router : 192.168.1.11
netmask : 255.255.255.0
filesv : 192.168.0.23

but i think you say that your gateway is 192.168.0.11 but also 192.168.1.11 ?

also you didn't answer the question is the ip adres of the phone set in manager , is it 192.168.1.131 instead of 192.168.0.131

the linux machine is the gateway, so that it is 192.168.0.11 on a lan interface and 192.168.1.11 on the other lan interface.
The 5610 is configured as you wrote( apart final is 31 instead of 131).
In manager voip tab the ip addr of the phone is set as 192.168.1.31

It looks like the phone cannot register to the gatekeeper, this is done using the 1719 and 1720 ports.
Check your Linux firewall/router.
With the IPO monitor you can trace the H.323 traffic and network traffic, there you can see if the phone can reach the IPO.

but, according to the manual, the gatekeeper should be only for lan 1 and so for .0 lan in my case, shouldn't it?
Not for .1 lan....

lan 1 means port 1 on the ipoffice

So it seems I get the phone working on different lan in this way:
- set ip addr and router to 0.0.0.0 so that it will use dhcp

- get mac address of the phone on a linux dhcp server set on lan .1 (other way to get it btw?)
Mar 23 02:43:01 adamo dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:09:6e:08:86:a7 via eth1: network 192.168.1.0/24: no free leases

- configured dhcpd to give it 192.168.1.31 with def gw 192.168.1.11 (the same settings I tried directly to the phone...)
in dhcpd.conf these lines:
subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
option routers 192.168.1.11;
option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0;

host avaya1 {
hardware ethernet 00:09:6e:08:86:a7;
fixed-address 192.168.1.31;
}
And now bingo!
Mar 23 02:45:43 adamo dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:09:6e:08:86:a7 via eth1
Mar 23 02:45:43 adamo dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.1.31 to 00:09:6e:08:86:a7 via eth1
Mar 23 02:45:45 adamo dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.1.31 (192.168.1.6) from 00:09:6e:08:86:a7 via eth1
Mar 23 02:45:45 adamo dhcpd: DHCPACK on 192.168.1.31 to 00:09:6e:08:86:a7 via eth1

- the phone started getting firmware updates by the lan and resetted itself two times and finally it came at normal display window, letting me phone from/to it.

I don't understand why the fixed address doesn't work....
Also, what is the VLANID and VLAN TEST settings on the IP Phone?

probably I would not have dhcp servers on the actual lans where I want to put the phones... so I'm indeed interested in finding a solution....
thanks in advance for your help

push "mute" and type "view" and "#"
now you can see all the settings in the phone
write them all down and try this with fixed adresses
also change the ip adres in mananger :)
if it then still doesn't work i don't know it anymore :)

probably firmware of the phone was not in line....
After the dhcp test and reflashing done by the phone, connecting it with static parameters on lan .1 works now.
Also, I took another 5610 phone that was already updated and works naturally with static parameters on lan .1.
It seems that it was a problem related to firmware...
I don't understand why when plugged on .0 lan the phone worked normally without updating its firware...

Tipeter: I don't understand your phrase:
push "mute" and type "view" and "#"
If I push the "mute" button I see nothing...

press the mute button and type view with the numbers (8439 i believe)
after that press #
if you don't have a mute button then use the hold button
trhen you can walk true your settings in the phone
