When dialing out, using Ars, it seems to take about
6-8 seconds before ringing is heard. Using analog loop start
trunks. Is there a way to speed this up? Is noticeably
slow. System is version 6.1

Do you have the system set to en-bloc dialling (using ; at the end of the ARS shortcodes)? If so that's the delay while it dials the digits and then connects :)

If you're located in NA, you can use a series of X to count digits. In our location, local calls are 10 digits, toll calls are 1 + 10 digits and international are 0 + a varying number of digits. So we use XXXXXXXXXX to match local and 1XXXXXXXXXX to match toll calls. Once the code matches, the call processes immediately. For international we 0N; and the caller has to wait for timer.
