I have a newly installed Avaya IP Office 500v2 with (6) 9508 phones and (1) Polycom conference phone running on 7.0(23).

The customer is complaining that, for the duration of virtually every call, the volume level fades in and out.

Probably a bug/hardware issue, you are not the only one.

Also mentioned in these other threads:

Try turning AGC off on the 9508's.

Home-->Advanced Options-->Audio...

You should upgrade to 7.0.27 and than add the patch that just came out. it address issue with 9500 series phones and 1600 and 9600 series

I am experiencing the same issue, 7.0.27 with patch does not fix this issue, customer is still experiencing the issue after upgrade...

Just an update, it must be a hardware or firmware issue with the 9500 phones as I just replaced them with 5410's and the customer is no longer experiencing the problem, the 5410's work fine.

That is because it is a firmware issue.
When you replace them then the issue will go away because they use different firmware.

I have corrected the issue by upgrading to 7.0.27 (without the patch) then upgrading to 7.0.27 (with the patch)

Yes there is a patch 7.0.23. However, it sometimes causes a problem with toggling on the 9500s. I recommend upgrading to 7.0.27 WITHOUT the patch. Then upgrade again WITH the patch. the whole process takes about 2 hours. I have done it 3 times to 3 different systems and have been successful in all cases.

That is what i say :)

8.0.16 -> no patch
7.0.23 -> patch
7.0.27 -> patch
