I've got an Avaya IP Office 500 controller, when I connect it says 4.0(7).

I have access to Office Manager (ADMIN6_0_1803.exe) and VoiceMail Pro (VMPRO6_0_44.exe).

I just finished getting these running on a Windows 7 PC, and now am being asked if the same will run ok on Windows 10. If anyone is running this stuff on Win 10, please let me know.

Fred

Running the IP Office Manager and VMPro Client is no problem on a win 10

We've had some terrible luck with Windows 10. It does rolling updates, so voicemail pro goes down alot. I would suggest disabling windows updates if you can or make sure you're on the slow ring.

Use AppServer (or install on Windows Server), server applications are not meant to be run on client OS.

there is no Apps server because it is R4.0 the probably worst release ever
but if you don't have issues then you might as well keep it.
I however agree with the Win10 warning about the upgrades so turn it off if it works because my PC will still upgrade even though it it turned off.

Thanks Westi, I shouldn't answer post past my bedtime.

Yeah, I'm just trying to keep this old thing going. Manager and VMPro have been on a Win XP box for years, just need to get it off of that for now.
Thanks,
Fred

I imagine server essentials works fine on some type of small form factor PC? I always wondered what type of hardware is needed if you're not leeching off a virtual host.

If you do run on Windows 10 and disable Windows updates, make sure that the pc does not get group policy updates that may re-enable Windows Updates.

Right. Fortunately this PC is not on the domain and stands alone, like the Win XP machine it's replacing. So, no policies. The system predates me here and I don't know why it was set up that way, but I'm setting up the Win10 machine the same.

I am with Westi on this one
V4.0 was a terrible release

My normal advise is "If it aint broke don't fix it" but in the case of 4.0 it is broke, you can upgrade to V5.0 without a licence

Tests that I did on Win 10 with IP Office Manager and Voicemail Pro went well. No issues sending and receiving from the controller, all functionality seems to be working, except when I tried email notification on voicemail. Then I remembered I had skipped over SMTP settings while installing VMPro on the Win 10 machine.

When setting up Voicemail Pro on a Windows XP machine like my current VMPro server, it sets up a mail connection in Control Panel, with the SMTP server information.

When I installed VMPro on the Win 10 machine I skipped the smtp part for reasons I can't recall. Can't figure out how to get it in there after the fact. I could re-install VMPro I suppose, easy enough.

But Win 10's "control panel" (settings gear) isn't anything like XP's, will VMPro still set up an account in there on Win 10?

Fred

in the control panel change your view to see all icons not the crappy Microsoft bundeling then you should see Voicemail Pro
you could also open Control Panel then type Voicemail into the search and it will find it for you.
weird enough even on my R10 voicemail here it finds it in Control Panel even though the settings are all done in the VoicemailPro Client
