I have been trying to route an incoming fax to a different extension than a voice call. Is this possible when the incoming calls use the same analogue line.

The way I attempted it was to have two incoming call routes, the first set with a bearer capability of "any voice" going to e.g. Extn201 and the second with the bearer capability set to "any data" going to e.g. Extn208.

This doesn't work, and I am under the impression that the call would need to be answered in some way before the system can find out if it is a voice or data call.

Is there any way to achieve this?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Bearers are used with isdn lines only. And a regular fax call is still considered a voice call to an isdn circuit if it came from an analog line. If you want to route a fax call, I believe Voicemail Pro can now detect CNG tone in its routing, but I don't think the embedded voicemail will. Do you have Voicemail Pro?

@redphone - Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I haven't got a copy of voicemail pro. so I guess I am stuck. The fax machine that this is going to is a HP Officejet 7140xi, which after reading the instructions, has the capability of a user picking up a fax call, they can dial 3 2 1 than hang up the call and let the fax answer it. I wonder if there is any way the IP Office could do this automatically maybe?

Cheers
