Hi all,

Does anyone have documentation that can support DHCP configuration layout for the primary call server, secondary call server, http and https locations? Or can somebody elaborate what this imply?

Also, if you have documentation or insights regarding how to configure the user profile to display the local phone number when it calls out. I believe this can all be done inside the IP Office Manager but need strong documentation to support this concerns.

Thank You!

Hi B3rn4rd8,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it a lot.

End user just wants advice on DHCP for WAN and E911. He wants the configured document. Though I am not sure as to what he is referring as "configured document" in this case.

He is saying that he can set up basic DHCP on the IPO. He just needs the code for the DHCP server not on Avaya. For example, 176 for call server 1. He is asking what is the code for call server 2 and the HTTP code. I have no idea what he is referring to here.

As for the profile, I'm sure it can be done in the IP Office Manager. I need the issue above to be resolved first before anything else.

With Respect,

Hmmm.. I see. If I understood, he wants to know how to configure the DHCP Scope 242, as the 176 DHCP Scope.

Send him this below:

Option 242
DATA DHCP Scope --> L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=11,VLANTEST=0
VOICE DHCP Scope --> MCIPADD=192.168.42.1,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=192.168.42.1,VLANTEST=0

He will know what it means.

Yes, I have seen documents the same as this online. Thank you. I will let you know how it goes.

Hi B3rn4rd8,

He said it will not work for complex WAN configuration. The code we provided is still a basic one according to him.

Regards

So I dont know what he really needs or means about "complex configuration". [neutral]

Yeah. Lets just leave it at that for the moment. He is insisting to have a level 3 or level 4 support to help him. Advised him already to create a ticket directly to Avaya.

What ticket, the string is correct.

If what he wants is a DHCP server that can support devices in several different sub-nets requesting addresses for their subnet then he needs a multihomed DHCP server or one that can work with routers that support DHCP relay or combinations of both. And to read the documentation from that DHCP server provider.

If what he want is to know how IP Office copes with issuing additional IP Office addresses for scenarios like resilience then he doesn't need to know. Its not done through DHCP even though the DHCP string can include multiple server addresses and that method is used in the Avaya CM world.

Of course it would all be a little clearer if it wasn't done via a piggy-in-the-middle.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hi Sizbut,

Here are his exact words:

"I am classified by Avaya as an expert on the IPO but in none of the class did we talk about e911 and DHCP for WAN. I can setup a basic DHCP on the IPO I need the code for the DHCP server not on Avaya. I.e. 176 for call server 1. What is the code for call server 2 and the HTTP code."

He stated that the Option 242 as mentioned above by B3rn4rd8 will not work on a complex WAN configuration. He is trying to get hold of a document or someone that can guide him through this complex configuration. I can't figure out what he means by "code for call server 2 and the HTTP code"

Regards

My sight about it.. He knows nothing and is trying to get time solving his "issue". 242 Option is a default config for DHCP Scope. Correct me if i'm wrong Sizbut.. He doesnt need to configure a "complex WAN configuration".

I still dont understand what the "expert" is trying to do .
Is he looking for different subnets for 911 calls? Option 242 is the only option for 96xx ip sets if thats what you have.
IE. So if ext. 3322 172.34.3.XX dials 911 then know to go to building #3 ?

It's only dialtone!!!

Complex WAN DHCP situations?
The server edition can handle 64 DHCP scopes on it's own DHCP server.
All you need is routers (or firewalls) that can do DHCP relay.
These 64 DHCP scopes is probably not documented but i know this from Avaya so it is true.
When you use the IPO SE DHCP server then you do not need to take care of the secondary SE IP address as this is done automatically.
To add a DHCP scope go to the lan port and go to "advanced"
There you can put in 64 scopes with the correct IP addresses for those phones.
Make an IP route for each scope if needed.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hey guys!

I appreciate all your inputs here. Makes me feel that I'm not alone in resolving this case. Anyway, I think the best thing now is to let him figure this out on his own since he thinks that this is too complex even for me.

Many Thanks!
