Hello Guru's
I have 3 sites at 9.1.4 in a SCN setup and now need to add another but 10.0 is now available. will that 10.0 site be able to SCN between each other or do I have to upgrade the other sites to 10.0?

Thanks!

This is from the knowledgebase:
Software Level Interoperation

Small Community Networks is supported between systems with the same major software level or one level of difference in major software level. For example between 9.1 and 9.0 (same major level) and between 8.0 and 9.0 (one major level of difference).

This option is intended mainly to allow the phased upgrading of sites within a Small Community Network. It is still recommended that all systems within a network are upgraded to the same level where possible. Within a Small Community Network including differing levels of software, the network features and capacity will be based on the lowest level of software within the network.

You forget that there is release 9.1 between 9.0 and 10.0 - so these are TWO major releases apart

This was the version format as in documentation

"Name of the Solution followed by N.Y(Z), where N = Major Release Y = Minor Z = Update. An update may either be a Critical Patch or a Service Pack designation."

Avaya supports 2 major releases, current and the previous.

So why do you need an upgrade license to go from 9.0 to 9.1? Same from 8.0 to 8.1? Those are major releases.

you need the license because even though it is a minor version upgrade there are new features. do you really think Avaya would give out features for free?

I was setting up a SCN with 9.1 and 8.1
Avaya said this is not supported.
9.1 to 9.0 was or 9.0 to 8.1
If possible that Avaya just didn't want to help

not supported does not mean it will not work, just saying

We'll see what happens with licensing now that it's in PLDS.
In Aura it would allow for example 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 with the same license.
Looking in the IPO PLDS license for 9.1 it says <Version>9</Version>, don't have a R10 license to compare with but it could mean that it would allow 10.0 and 10.1 with the same license.

In my opinion 10.0 should not be considered a mayor release because what new stuff that is of value has been in that release?
Sorry have a sarcastic day [ponder]

I think IPO is the only product you have to pay for minor release upgrades. Any other software (Aura as mentioned before, ASBCE, Identity Engines...) can all be upgraded from one minor release to the next one without having to purchase upgrade licenses.
