Our IP Office 3.1 has been randomly restarting. Usually it's been at night so when I come into work I've noticed the system has been reset, however yesterday it happened during working hours. It finally came back up but it took awhile as it seemed to be cycling through the boot process about ten times.

I turned SysMonitor on yesterday and when I came in this morning the system has reset again. The last line in the monitor before it lost contact with the system states OSBuffer::Alloc Out of Buffers 1210.

I have the defualt trace options turned on the sysmonitor. Any ideas?

What type of system?? 403/ 406, 412 or 500..
What 3.1 release could be a bug depending on release..
Any power issues u know of ?
Are there any VCM or t1 daughter boards?

Just a few things to look at

It's a 406 running version 3.1[65]. Not aware of any power issues, but we do use all 5420 handsets which did require us to get different power supplies as that did cause problems when the system was first installed. A VCM is installed since we have remote locations, but our other sites don't have this problem.

VCM's and trunk cards can cause reboots we just sent one back as it caused a reboot every 4 or 5 mins. Just for testing take it out/replace to see if it stops.

Right buffers are a great thing here. You have an issue some where with VPN either recieving so many errors it has to reboot before some thing else bad happens.

HOwever before digging to deep I would suggest at the very minimum an upgrade to latest 3.2 sw then you can get your business partner to escalate this up to avaya for you.

CCNA - Passed at last
