Have a customer that has a remote user. since last week the remote user has not been able to hear or be heard when making a call or receiving a call. Replaced the phone, he had an extra one. same result. He can make a call and you can call him but he answers and nothing. I've had him reboot his modem, I have rebooted the local system. The local system is rel 11.0. Thinking ports are not open or something. What should I check? The user is 2 hours away so I would like to have some idea of what to look for before heading out.

Try setting up one of your phones as a remote phone to that system to see what results you get. This will point you in the right direction on where to go to resolve the issue.

since last week" - that does beg the question what changed a week ago. Was something upgraded, moved, added?

Also, while you've told us it's 11.0, you said nothing about the type of phone, IP Office, remote connection setup, etc.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

The phone is a 9511, It is set up as ip phone remote worker. The only one on the system.

Wow! The only extra information you'll share with the people you ask for help is the type of phone! (and that was wrong but we can assume what you meant).

H.323 phone - connection but no audio - most likely RTP ports/VCM resources/ALG. But we really are stabbing in the dark if you don't want to share anything about the connection method, other equipment between the IP Office and the phone, type of IP Office, etc. And what changed "since last week" - or has it never worked or ever worked? Local H323 phones working okay?

Sorry - ip office essential. Think he just has a centuryLink ( local LEC ) DSL modem. I asked the user if anything changed, and they said no. The ports are what I was thinking. I might try a local IP-Phone to see if its the ports on the ipoffice or the centurylink modem.
