Hi Everyone,

One of my offices is currently running the Avaya IP Office version 5.2. We primarily have Nortel PBX's nationally but this office was a new business recently acquired.

I need to program on a permenant call forward to one of my nortel users. Example: callers selects extension 123 on the Avaya and the call gets forwarded offsite to the Nortel user.

I was able to add forwarding to the short code however after no answer the call returns to the Avaya voicemail. My preference is to forward the call unconditionally so that the call would eventually reach the Nortel users voicemail.

Can you please advise how this can be accomplished.

Thanks,

untick voicemail in the user tab and set the no answer time on the telephony tab very high

On extension 123 in the users Frowarding section put the number in the forward unconditional box and tick forward unconditional and forward hunt group calls and internal if so desired.

or do that, mind is on other things, im off to buy a fridge

For the forwarded user:
Disable VoiceMail and set the ring timeout timer to the max possible value.
if this usernumber always reside on the Nortel then create a shortcode:
SC = extension number
TN = the number of the nortel user
LineID = the line towards the nortel
action = dialemergency ( this allows all users to dial this number in spite of any call barring )

I'm not having much luck... If you have the time could you document by step what involved in creating a new extension with unsupervised forwarding from the ground up?

Good luck with the fridge..

81Cadmin if this is purely to forward the call offsite on permanent basis make a shortcode.
1 Click on Shortcodes on the left of Manager window.
2 Right click in the column headed shortcodes and select new
3 For code put the number the users will dial e.g 123
4 For feature leave it as Dial
5 For tel number enter the offsite number e.g 01234567
6 Line group ID set this that same as the other Dial shortcodes in the list (usually 0).

As long as you have no user 123 this will dial the remote site.

Setup as directed above:

New Short Code
Code: 190
Feature: Dial
Telephone Number: 905968xxxx
Line Group ID: 0
Force Account Code: unchecked

When i dial 190 from within avaya I receive "Please hold while we try to connect you". The call rings on the Nortel set however after 3 rings reverts to the IP Office voicemail system instead of allowing the call to be handed off to the Nortel system.

What I'm looking to achieve is a blind transfer (simply having the Avaya punt the call to the other system).

So you have a user made with extension 190 ?
If you have you need no answer time as high as possible
Then in your shortcode change dial to dial emergency !!!

By default the no answer time is 15 seconds wich is 3 rings !
This is default for system and for users
So if you did not make the user it uses the system no answer
If you made the user then look there

That shortcode should do exactly that, something else is causing the call to come back. What mailbox answers on the IPO side? Do you have an ext/user 190? If so delete it.

If you created the shortcode you don't need any user 190, if you created a user 190 and/or ext 190 delete or at least renumber them they are not needed.

You are right, i am mixing up those two

If user then set the forwaord unconditional
If shortcode use dial emergency

Why would you set it to dial emergency? It will work without doing that it's just a speeddial basically.

It will not wait for a further match so it will call quiker and like intrigrant said even call barred phone scan dial
This is not the case when you use "dial"

The short code using dial emergency still reverts back to IP Office for voicemail.

I then deleted this and created a user (ext 190) and added unconditional forward and set the 'no answer' time high. This didn't solve the problem as calls after 3 rings revert back to the Avaya.

As I said something else is causing this, a shortcode has nothing in it to bring a call back especially a dial emergency. What mailbox answers?

Does the user has a short code programmed?

Or try it with different number, try a free range like 2xx or 3xx
