Got called on a system that had lightning damage, all their electronics where toasted, desk tops, switches, routers. We did not put the system in originally. Took up a used cabinet and new cards to replace what was there. Put everything in, took the SD card out of the old system, put it in the new system, turned it on connected pc to check programming and it comes up as the used cabinet that I used. Shouldn't the system get the configuration from the SD card? I am really hoping that I can get the original SD to load the programming because it is configured as a remote unit and I have none of the credentials, VLAN info or the rest.

Is the used ipo500 at the same software level or higher than the old one.
You Haven’t said what software level they are at.

Could be your manager programme has the used config on it.

Try putting the SD card in a card reader and get the config file off it.
Then open it in manager.
Then send it to the ipo

See if some one on site has a copy of the original config.

I'm Using 9.0, system was installed in 2017. Wish I could tell. All the phones are IP. Ill try the SD card in the reader. How do you get just the config file? No one on site has the original config. Company that installed is out of business. I thought resetting the password was going to be the hardest part! I have all different versions of manager, from 8.1, 9.0, 9.1 and 11.1

Systems only take the config if they are default.
If you want that to happen then you need to default the system with a different SD card in it then unplug and put the old SD card in powering it up

My bad.🤔

I thought every engineer replacing a system with a used one would have defaulted it first. 🤷
Knowing the existing config would still be in the unit…………

SO I take out the original SD card, then default the cabinet, then put the original SD card back in the system? Just don't want to lose the licenses. Regarding defaulting the system, I was under the impression that on boot up the system read the configuration from the SD card.

if it is ADI licensing then it is in the config
if it is PLDS licensing then there is a file in the primary folder on the SD card called PLDSKeys.xml and that is your license file that you can either upload directly or upload via license option in Manager

If it is 9.0 it should be ADI - so part of the Config.

Just open config.cfg from SD Card with Manager and you will see.

If you put the card into a defaulted cabinet it sites load the Config but all security settings should be default.

Be aware that if you don’t have an Essential Edition license it will not work because the license has been auto generated during an upgrade. Dinge ask me what Update it was…

It was installed in 2017, don't think they did any upgrades. the company that put it in has been out of business for at least 2 years. Can't recall what version was being used in 2017

well everything was there except the license, do I need to reload them from the pldskeys file? Or should they automatically load?

You said that you put the SD card from the burned out cabinet into a USED cabinet. That won't work as the used cabinet was locked to its original license file. If you had put the SD card into a brand new virgin cabinet then you would have been okay as the licenses and all configuration would have moved across.

New information that would have been nice to know, this system is working off a server edition! When you get to the login screen on the ip phone, enter the ext number then login password it just goes to discover. I'm thinking that when they replaced the router they did not set up the VLAN or the correct ports. At the main location when they login to the management web page this site is now "green". This site is a remote site. I know nothing of server edition. Any help

Then the cabinet is a server expansion.
You need to enable this on the cab first.

Take it off the network first
The cab needs to be defaulted to boot up in basic edition
When completed
Then change it to server expansion.

Then you can put in the SD card and reboot.

Download deploying server edition installation manual.
All the info is there

Sounds like a plan. I did default the system to basic then put in old sd card, did NOT set it to server expansion first. You would think is would get that info from the config file.

Being a server Edition expansion should be part of the Config.

In R9 most but not all licenses are provided by the server. PRI, receptionist and CTI (IIRC) must be local.

Nevertheless… If you hope to get some help you have to describe your issue as exactly as possible and your environment. Everything else is fishing in the dark.

Set the system to server expansion mode, put in old SD card. everything is up and running. There was more going on with the cisco smart switch, only certain ports would pass info. Thanks for all the help.
