Can someone please, PLEASE tell me how to set up paging to external speaker system, STEP BY STEP, for an IP Office 500v2???

This is a new system with no added short codes and going to a Radio Shack MPA-40 PA Amplifier which was wired to external speakers on the previous system (which was a BCM450 and it worked perfectly). I cannot get it to work and I the threads I have read are just running me in circles or are only giving me part of the information.

Thank you VERY much.

With that amp you'll probably need an isolation transformer like a Bogen WMT1A. Change an analog station port to a paging speaker. Create a short code like *80/Dial Paging/{ananlog extension number) If you want to test if your programming is right connect a butt set to it and page. You should hear the audio. If you don't get audio then the programming is wrong.

But from the specs of the amp it doesn't have a 600 ohm input. Valcom VMT-1 would also work for the isolation transformer.

I was just looking at the Bogen WMT1A yesterday and trying to decide if I thought that would do the trick. Currently there is a loud hum on the speaker system if I try to connect it.

I also read in a post that there are cases where you have to attach a set, take it offhook and reboot the system in order to make this work? I didn't see what software release that applied to, but figured I would give that a shot if the audio didn't work. I just didn't know if I could trust my own programing since I have never done this before.

Thanks for responding.

Get a SNOM PA1, set up a third party sip extension on the IP Office to dial the SNOM. Run the pair of wire from the SNOM to the amplifier and be done with it. Simple as can be.

I installed the Bogen WMT1A and followed the programming instructions and everything worked like a champ. I am not sure what I was doing wrong (beyond not having the Bogen WMT1A), but after removing the programming and reprogramming using the intructions provided in this thread, it worked perfectly.

You all saved me major headaches. Thank you very much.
