Does anyone have, or know what columns are used in a CVS file? Example, I want to add to the csv the profile (power user, basic user and office worker user). Also I want to know what column, if possible, is used to set the "login code".

I have 1500 users I need to add to this system, and want to simplify the process.

Create an offline config, add one user, set a distinctive login code and then export as a CSV to study.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I do understand the problem you may have adding 1500 users but the .csv file is not the correct path to follow.
I don't think you can import a .csv file without creating problems, one small error (missing a comma) and your whole config is corrupted.

It is a very bad idea to do the configuration.csv import.

The IPO does not use a standard column format for the CSV, it goes line by line, so some lines are shorter than others, and programs like excel will add commas to the end when you save it. It will not import at that point. It's very finnicky with how it's formatted.

HOWEVER, I do it all the time, and it's easy to do if you know what you're doing. I've edited configs straight from there, no big deal.

The basic "user.csv" will not import/export login codes and user profiles.
You can go to the license for the user license and add users there to make it easier.

Interesting, ill have to review the license file. I wasnt aware of any user info in the license file.
I have used a csv file for basics. User name, full name, ext, and email address. But that is all I know how to use.

Interesting how it's not recommended. As these systems get as big as they are becoming, keying in this many users is hours and hours of work.

Thanks for the info this far...

No, importing via user.csv and huntgroups.csv, etc is fine. But messing about with configuration.csv can cause issues if you're not careful. The other things are pretty easy. I do the users.csv ALL the time.

Export the Configuration.csv file. Open it in Excel. Delete all the rows up to, but not including, User_Info_Start, then delete all the rows after, but not including User_Info_End.

The login code is column AK, US_LoginCode. It is encoded, but a login code of 1234 comes out as AAAA.

The profile is column EU, US_AssignedPackage. The profiles you asked about are Basic User, Office Worker User, and Power User.

Make your changes, then click on the X to close the spreadsheet. Answer Yes to "Do you want to save the changes you made to 'Configuration.csv'?. Click on Save on the Save As dialog. Answer Yes to "The file Configuration.csv already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?". Answer Yes to "Configuration.csv may contain features that are not compatible with CSV (Comma delimited). Do you want to keep the workbook in this format?"

Now launch Notepad and open Configuration.csv in it. The very first line looks like:
Code:
User_Info_Start,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Delete all of the commas, leaving User_Info_Start

Scroll to the end, the last line looks like:
Code:
User_Info_End,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Delete all of the commas, leaving User_Info_End

Click on the X to close Notepad, answer Yes to "Do you want to save changes to C:\Users\...\Configuration.csv?"

Now you can finally go back to Manager and Import Configuration and your Users will be changed.
