IP Office Application Serve R9 on Hyper-V

Hey folks, can't completely tell from the Matrix if Hyper-V is supported for App Server on R9 but I have successfully deployed this in the past.

New R9-SP7 Application server running on Hyper-V trying to sync up to R9-SP7 Ip500v2.

CSTA-Provider-1-192.168.1.230 Status Failed – Additional Info: Provider SAP Login Failed

I reset security settings to factory default on the IP Office and deleted the VHDX the virtual machine was using then deployed with a new virtual hard disk but yielded same result. Subsequent attempts I have tried uninstalling the One-X portal service from the web admin page and reinstalling but that did not help either. Tried manually pushing both logins for EnhTcpaService to the default EnhTcpaPwd1 as well as unique custom passwords and neither helped. Looking for some guidance on this one.

Hyper V is not supported for IPO. Not for App server and not for Server Edition.

It was working (there is a FAQ for that) but from my personal experience it not work anymore (at least for 9.1)

I understand server edition not working on Hyper-V mostly as it is licensed against the VMware hardware ID. However, all of the app server (9.0) docs I find show recommendations for hardware allocations in "virtualized" scenarios however they do not list specific hypervisors like the Server Edition docs do.

We have 1XP running on a server 2012r2 VM spun up on a Hyper-V core installation on a lab server that works great. Our lab app server ironically does run on ESXi for R9 but Hyper-V is becoming more prevalent in small business than in the past. Odd that there would be an issue with app server on Hyper-V but not Windows VMs in the same hypervisor.

Maybe not supported, but works just fine.
Got both the latest 9.0 and 9.1 running on Hyper-V.

Have you tripple checked the login cred's in Web Management matching the IPO?
And are there any pending upgrades on the AppServer?
Could even be that the IPO is blocking in the Security settings or user disabled due to too many false login attempts.

I had defaulted the IPO security settings to set the account back to the default EnhTcpaPwd1 pass, and then re-deployed the app server VM on a brand new VHDX so it would also have the default pass. That wasn't working so I popped open the One-X web portal and tried changing the password to a custom value then changed security settings in IPO to match. That still wasn't working so I tried manually changing them both to the default pass and still no go.

So I decided to spin up a Server2012r2 vm for this to see if the error would go away - and the exact same issue is in place. Is there something I can do on the IPO side other than Defaulting the security settings? Not sure why that wouldn't put it back at default?

Found an old release of One-X running on a separate network host also trying to connect up. Customer had installed in the past to experiment with it and never removed it.

IPO wasn't happy having two One-X services ttying to authenticate at the same time (go figure). Removed old instance of One-X portal and restarted the new VM in Hyper-V. Connected right up.
