Hi all!

Can I connect directly a SIP extension over internet directly to ip public ipo site redirecting router ports to the IPO...????? :)

How secure is the ipo for make this experiments?

Thanks....

not secure at all. sip is pretty much plain text and can be sniffed. do not do it.

unless you really really really want to.

but don't.

Yes, I know, of course it's unsecure but I need to explore "low cost" services and my crazy brain was thinking it. :-(

Any idea to "low cost" service for external extension.???

We are using Netgear FVS336g VPN for external extensión but we have problems when in the outside office have more than one extension. In this case 9630 phones. We can put only one VPN phone. :-(

Thanks.

with R8 there will be remote worker licenses that will allow you to work over a natted connection without a VPN (or something like that). My guess is that the upgrade would be costly though.

You could always do softphone...or perhaps one-x telecommuter. or mobile FNE.

Djmrtrar,

When you upgrade to 8.0 then you can use a 9600 phone as a remote worker.
You need to do some port forwarding but no more VPN needed.
But you need to read the tech bulletin because there are some changes to the licensing!!!

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
