I have an IP Office 406 V 4.2 (20) with two 5420 digital phones (x203, 204), one Konftel 300 (x201) analog phone and three analog lines. I have problem with initiating a conference call (internal or external) from the Konftel phone. When I join the 2nd party, it puts the 1rst part on hold. When I switch to the 1rst party it puts the 2nd party on hold.

Here is a list of what I have tried:
1. Initiate/join parties to conference using either the flash or the Konftel conference button. Also used *47. Same result
2. Rebooted the system multiple times
4. Defaulted the system
3. Internal and external conference calls work great if initiated by one of the 5420 digial phones

Thanks JM

It's called a conference phone because it sits on a conference table in a conference room, it's not designed for utilising system conference resources really, you need to follow the instructions in the help file for analogue phones and conferencing, also the "conference" button on the Konftel is just a flash hook key and will not initiate a conference by itself :)

It would be handy if that advice matched what the analogue conference guide I referred to mentions........oh no, it does :)

Default Conference Handling

The methods below use the system's default system short codes.

To start/add to a conference:

1. Place your first call or the existing conference on hold. (Existing conference parties will still be able to talk to each other.)

2. Call the new party.

· If not answered, or diverted to voicemail, or answered but the party does not want to join the conference; put them on hold and dial *52 to clear the call.

3. If answered and the other party wants to join the conference, put them on hold and dial *47.

4. All held calls are now in conference.

· Digital display extensions will see CONF followed by the conference number.

To exit a conference:

1. Parties wanting to leave a conference can simply hang-up.

Thanks amriddle01 for the definition of "conference phone". No one likes a smartass :)

I find no insult in that remark, but I must have had to explain the same thing to at least 10 customers over the years, some still couldn't grasp it. I had no reason to assume you knew that already :)

Good. It was not meant to be an insult. Post a link to the document and I will give you a star also

The Konftel 300 can do more than just being a phone on the conference table.
It can actually set up the conference, i.e. call the parties even from saved contacts. It will call the first one, put on hold, call the next, join conference, call the next, join to conference...

The Konftel 300 has a feature called conference guide. If configured properly for IP Office, it will do the star-something magic by itself.

Conference guide settings for IP Office

Select Menu > conf guide > settings.
Enter the command for a request for a new dialling tone and press OK to confirm.
(“F” is the default setting)
Enter the command to connect everyone to a multi-party call and press OK to
confirm. (“*43” for IP Office)
Enter the command to return to your original call and press OK to confirm. (“*52” for IP Office)
