I am currently at my wits end on this issue. I started out with IP office 9.0.0.829 w/ PRI > VM Pro. customer reported after calling into a conference service, the service didn't recognize the pin code. They called Lowes and and dialed 1, 2 , etc. nothing. many tests. I uploaded system files from SD card and rebooted. nothing. I upgraded software to 9.0.100.845. Still does not work...................does anyone have any wisdom here.

Also did a monitor and monitor saw the digit being pressed but dont seem to pass to telco. called telco he DTMF were not being sent after initial connection to AA. A couple of tests to different numbers the call went through

ISDN tester, plug it in, emulate the lines, dial some digits. That will prove if it's the system or provider :)

Assuming it is the system, ive done everything i know to do at this point. Tech support said upgrade to latest version 9.0.100.845... if that dont work IDK they said (basically).

if this is an Avaya issue, i will be pissed. I could dial an extension back in the 80's.

Ive got telco on the line. at this point i dont have an ISDN tester.

An ISDN tester is an essential tool for troubleshooting such issues (and many others). only time I have seen a DTMF issue on the system is due to poorly upgraded DS modules, or questionable SIP lines, other than that it's been the provider causing the issue :)

I see you are US based, your PRIs have several different flavours and settings (in contrast to ours), I would clarify everything is exactly as the provider needs it and even then try playing around with them :)

One thing that may help we have a 2U card with an analog conference phone. When using the polycom no issues with DTMF just on the 9611G's

What codec are you using? You should be on G711.... for some reason the system tries G729 by default :)

My selected codes are G.711 Ulaw and G.723.1 6K3 MP-MLQ

When you dial internally and press digits do you hear distortion? :)

I set up a short code to AA and am able to press buttons fine internally. little distortion on numbers when dialing outbound not so much inbound.

Im baffled that you can call any number in the world until you reach an AA.

Well we know the system is OK and the lines are OK as non IP devices work fine, so it's either your IP sets or the network/network equipment/config of the network, I doubt all your phones are dodgy so I would look into why you are hearing distortion even internally, albeit only slight, it is there. Could be a system bug ....but I don't think it is :)

Current firmware on phone is S9608_11 HALB R6 3_0_37_V452.tar Is this the latest firmware

If you have a spare DID station number, make a VMPro module that will verbalize DTMF digits received - then call the DID and dial digits, see if VMPro gets them right.

Verify Out Of Band DTMF is checked on the Extension > VoIP tab. When checked, digits are sent from the IP phone out-of-band to the IP Office, always. This is why you can see the digits dialed in Monitor. IP Office sends the initial phone number out-of-band across the PRI via the Setup message. This is why you can dial "any number in the world". However, once the call is established DTMF tones are sent in-band. This conversion between out-of-band (phone to the IP Office) to in-band (across the PRI) is done by the VCM. If you don't have a T-Berd to test with, you could try replacing the VCM to see if that helps.
