Hi

We purchaed an IP Office 500V2 R7 from a vendor to upgrade our old IP Office 403 because we need SIP capability. The vendor told us R7 did not need any software license to use SIP unlike R8 and up. However this unit is not working because of a lack of license I think. Here are some data from the switch

IP Office 500V2 R7
Slot one empty
Slot two 34066mS PRN: + Slot 2: Base PHONE2 Board=0x00 PLD=0x03
34066mS PRN: + Mezzanine NONE
Slot three empty
Slot four 34067mS PRN: + Slot 4: Base VCM32 Board=0x05 PLD=0x11
34067mS PRN: + Mezzanine ATM4 Board=0x02 PLD=0x06

When a handset goes off hook on slot two port 1 this is what the monitor shows

99115mS CMTARGET: 0.1004.0 2 Extn203.0: LOOKUP CALL ROUTE: type=100 called_party= sub= calling=203 dir=out complete=0 ses=0
99116mS CMTARGET: 0.1004.0 2 Extn203.0: BARRED - Caller Software not Licensed
99116mS CMTARGET: 0.1004.0 2 Extn203.0: CancelTimer CMTCDialToneTimeout

The monitor also shows this:
652208mS ERR: IPOFFICE IS UNUSABLE UNTIL SOFTWARE LICENSE IS ADDED

When I go to advance/upgrade every line says licensed for 2 required 4.

So what is the easy way to overcome this? This is for an install that only has 5 extensions, 2 pots line and one SIP trunk

Thanks again for you help!!!!

If this is a new IP500v2 unit, it will work on R6, R6.1 or R7 without need for a license. 90 days after the first call, it fixes the software it is running as permanent. If it is saying "licensed 2" it has been run and had a call made in R6 and is now fixed at this. You need to buy an upgrade or downgrade to R6 to get this working.

If you believed this to be a new unit, call them up and give them hell because it aint!!

R8+ needs either an Upgrade license (if the unit is fixed to an older software) or an Essential license to run. You will still need SIP trunk licenses what ever software revision you use. So if they told you otherwise, they owe you some licenses.

Fancy naming and shaming the vendor who lied to you???? ;-)

It says we have a 12 port Virtual Avaya IP Endpoints license is this what covers the SIP trunking? As for dealing with the last dealer I would rather have a draino on the rocks then deal with them anymore. How can I get the license to fix this?

Nope, they are for IP phones.

I would go back to them. They have told you one thing and SD you another.

To get licenses, you need to go through an Avaya Business Partner.
