Scenario: A small private school with 300 IP handsets (one in each class room) and external speakers in the hallway. Every day the do daily announcements, I can get them to work through the handsets fine. But in the common areas, (Gym, fields, cafeteria, etc...) I need to send the page over loud speaker at the same time.

What I have today:
IP Office 500 v2 - 1 co port setup for external connection to paging
Vaclcom Paging with zone paging (inherited) (V-9940 & V9927A) with several amplifiers.
I have not used the Valcom paging system any further than connecting it as a CO line.

What works:
*1998 is my phone paging and it works.
*1900 is my all zone paging and it works.
*1901 is my zone selection paging and it works.

What is not working:
Customer cannot page both *1900 and *1998.
Does any one know a way to make it work?

Thanks,
Jason Johnson

The 9940 is a Centrex paging adapter, it requires a single line station to RING into it, then it will answer the ringing call and connect the audio to the amplifier input (or to the self amplified horns).

Instead of a ringing analog port, you need to set it to a Paging port, put a 680-ohm resistor across tip and ring, and feed that into the page port (set to VOX) of a Bogen UTI paging interface.

Then you can include that analog paging port station in a hunt group along with the IP phones and page them simultaneously
