i have an ip 401 which i have to reconfigure it but i don't the password, the ip address and the software load.

I guest that if i reset with the DTE to the defaults i will be able to configure it but i don't know if my manager (latest ver) can open this software load. Do you think that i will need to download an old one? What is the oldest firmware load that manager 6.2(14) can open?what is the max firm that it can be fit on?

4.2 documentation CD has not even any info about that unit and i am downloading the 3.2 docs now....So any info from the experience guys here will be really apprecioate.

thanks.

i found this...

'When an IP Office 2.1 or higher configuration is loaded, Manager adjusts the settings and fields that it shows to match the core software level of the IP Office control unit. If you attempt to load a pre-2.1 IP Office configuration, Manager will display an error message and does not load the configuration.'

So, how am i going to figure out which load this unit has?any ideas?

does it matter what load it is on? if you are going to default it and reprogram it you may as well upgrade it at the same time.

Upgrading pre-Level 2.1 Systems
For IP Office Systems with software Level 2.0 or earlier, the upgrade procedure must be done from a PC with a fixed IP address on the same subnet and LAN segment as the IP Office.
• Multi-Stage Upgrades
Due to the need to adjust internal memory allocation and configuration storage, for certain upgrades some control units need to perform a multi-stage upgrade process. The table below indicates the required upgrade paths.

Unvalidated Only

2.0 > 2.1
Validated
2.1 > 3.0 > 3.1 > 3.2 > 3.2(999) > 4.2.

you can get the ip address of in HEX through the DTE port. which will then allow you to know which load its on.

let me find my doc on how to do it.

ok.
to get the ip address.

plug in your dte lead, set up hyperterminal in the normal way.

boot up the ipo DONT PRESS ESC JUST LET IT RUN.

once its loaded up look for this line

RouteSystem:: LAN1 ipaddr=C0A82A01

then run calc on windows. set it to scientific. set it to hex.

punch in the FIRST 2 digits from the ip address in hex. so in my example c0 then change to decimal. this changes to 192

then repeat the next 2 digits in hex A8 = 168
2A = 42
01 = funnily enough 1

there you have your ip address.

connect with your manager and it will tell you what level of software the system is on.

great,nice tip guys. i also found that if i plug my dte and i repeatably press the escape button it will give me the Loader message.

so i know how i can find the ip address, how to find the software ver and how to erase via DTE the unit. one more question please.
in case i need it, where can i find the latest firm for 401?
someone here, on another thread, wrote that it's the 4.2(27).
is the one i can find on this directory? C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\V3_1_999
anyone knows which load is that?i can not test from my unit.
thanks

'someone here, on another thread, wrote that it's the 4.2(27).'
sorry, 2.1(27)

i think it depends if its a 401 or a 401ng

Use the DTE and type at
then type at-debug

then erasenvconfig
then eraseconfig

This will default the system

ok, i'm fine.the unit had the default settings and with a 2.1(44) firm so i configured it with the 6.2(14) manager.

thanks guys

Thank you TomMills, today I fat fingered changing the IP address on an IPO and apparently I can't see clearly either when I checked before pressing Okay and merging the configuration. I knew I could get the address from the the dte port but didn't know about the hex conversion in Windows/Calculator. Thanks for getting me out of a bind!

no problem fella. another one of those things that you use once a year, but when you do, you are very glad to know it. :)

Go in to your preferences and set an iprange so it will do a broadcast

You have to set it in Preferences -> Discovery -> IP Search Criteria
