IP Office 11.0.x 1408 Sets Auto OffHook to External Analog Line

FYI - customer only has one line connected to their system.

We have a salesperson who sold an IP Office to a residence. Well, the resident would like to go offhook on their phones and automatically be connected to Line 1?

Also, is there a way when they are on a call to hookflash the line and answer a call-waiting feature on that line?

check help files for "Hotline", likewise "Flash Hook"
I am not sure why the 1st request should even be necessary as a correctly configured IPO should automatically know if you were making an eternal or internal call so the need to select a line is completely moot

Yes, I agree that if properly setup the IPO should route automatically. But this isn't you everyday situation. The customer would have benefited from a square system, like a Toshiba or Norstar/BCM, but those are no longer available as "new". So we have to work with what was sold..

We don't have a choice in using Line Appearances - only one line connected to the system and it has vertical features that need to be accessed - primarily Call Waiting.

You can configure for no overlap between local prefixes and extension numbers, especially easy if you are in a mandatory 1+10 digits area. Hook flash button gives access to call waiting. Pick up handset and dial internal extension or external telephone number, the system will access the single outside line when appropriate.
 
Just set ? system short code to what outgoing line group. If they want anything else, dial it whilst on-hook and then lift handset.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
