Hi All,

How do i install a homeworker with an IP Phone over ADSL to an office which has an ip office 406 version 3.0.69

set up a hardware vpn with PPP. Then set the IPphone up with the appropriate IP settings. Done

Thanks,

Any chance of providing me with the details.

You will need someone with experience to setup an adsl router with vpn to connect to another vpn device where the ip office is. You can pickup vpn routers with qos and adsl quite easily but you also need to get the vpn device at the office side. Easier if all the same brand. Draytek have routers which are quite cheap and can create vpn tunnels to a lot of other vpn devices. They also have application notes on how to do it.

Someone on here got it to work with NAT but i've never seen it done yet.

Hi guys,

I've had this working to a point, using hardware routers at each end, but the phone at the outside location will drop(go dead) after several hours. Then the person has to unplug/plug it in and it works again for several hours.

I have been looking into the new feature of the 4610(I think this is the right model) called VPNRemote. I haven't had a lot of sucess with it yet, though.

You might also look at using softphone on a computer at the remote location(requires a PC with a license though). I have heard this works well.

Upgrade to 3.1 (56) fixes phone going dead. Upgrade the IP phones to suit.

Sounds like the vpn is going down after a while.

You need to make sure the routers are setup correctly. Keep alive pings and correct adsl setup help.

i have 4 remote users that use vpn over adsl.
netgear dg834 at client end
fvs328 at office multiple vpn tunnels
each ip 4602 has a fixed ip
a tftp service running on the voicemail server (for keeping the phones upto date)
the voicemail server has routes added (route add 192....) to point to each remote network
the ipo403 has the routes added to point to each remote network.

this has now been running for the last 1.5years without any problems. 1 user once in a while has some echo which a restart of the phone sorts that.
