Anyone have any information on this? I am trying to configure an IP Expansion cabinet over a customers data network.I have an Opt11C Rel 25.40b
Configuration with a Crosscable - no problem !
Configuration over a Cisco 3600 Router, Main cabinet and
expansion cabinet do not connect.
Main cabinet 10.0.1.1 255.255.255.0 Gateway 10.0.1.200
Cab 1 10.2.1.2 255.255.255.0 Gateway 10.2.1.200
I have configured a new route and a new Host
and the MAC adress
I don't know where is the problem

Thanks

did you enl the route ? seems it could be the cisco. is this ITG or a SSC card with Daughterboard .See if you can ping anything from the pbx or a laptop on the other end to ping back

I can`t enable route.It is a SCC with Daugherbord
Ntdk83 and Ntdk99
I can ping only the cabinet 2 which is ok over crosscable.
Main cabinet and Expansion cabinets do not answers on
pings from any other Host in the Network.(See LD 117
ping ipAdress)
I have monitored with sniffer.
When I make a syload on the Main cabinet.Main cabinet makes
an ARP Request to itself 10.0.1.1 but should make it to Router 10.0.1.200.
BOOTP from Cabinet 1 comes trough the router to main cabinet
Main cabinet do not answer.

Thanks

looks like it could be a few things. This should work! I think IPR 1 should be 10.0.1.2 then cab #0 needs a route Destination 0.0.0.0 Gateway 137.135.128.253(if thats the correct gateway) then enable it.Also it looks as if the patch cords on SSC are not in the correct places.Keep in mind top port on daughter board is cab #1 next port down is cab #3 next port is #2 then #4. also all ip cab need to be on the same Rls of software (IE 25.40) for a datadump to work.

let me know.

The Route and host in LD 117 does not have anything to do with the IPR/IPM. It is only used for the ELNK in the ELN K part of the switch. The connection between the two IP cabinets should be direct to a layer 3 switch or router. An entry in the switch or router must be made so that the two cabinets know where each other are in the Data network. I dont think you need a crossover cable if you are patching to a switch or router. Just plug it into a port. It would be avantageous to place the IP connection on a VLAN in the data network.

The IP Daughter board in the remote cabinet MUST be on the bottom daughter board slot of the CPU. Also I dont think you can ping from 117 as it tries to go over the ELNK.

Hi

The Opt.11 is a new switch.
The IP Daughter board in the remote cabinet are on port 2
the bottom daughterboard slot of the CPU.

The Opt.11 is now in my Labor and I test it.
Both cabinets are ok with crossovercable or plug into a layer 3 switch.
I can ping both remote cabinets from LD 117 when Link is up
I can also reboot Main or remote cabinets in about 4 minutes
everything is ok again.
My problem is, I have to put the M11 to the customer and for that i have to change the ip`s into the customers range.

In the customer`s LAN the remote cabinets are in different
Subnets over a router.
So i have in my labor an Cisco 3600 router 0/0 Gateway 10.0.1.200 and 1/0 gateway 10.2.1.200

The IP configuration for the remote cabinet i use the
Manual configuration and set the IP for Main and Exp.cabinet
and the Gateway L3.

In the main cabinet I configure a new route
10.2.1.2 10.0.1.200 1 1
I don't know if it is correct. I have to give the gateway for the cabinet 1 anywhere!

With the sniffer i can see on the monitored port on the cisco switch, the main cabinet makes an ARP Request to it's
own IP 10.0.1.1. From the expansion Cabinet iP packages come
to the main cabinet but the main does not answer.

In this reason i think the problem is in the configuration of the main cabinet.
How do i have to programm the gateway for the cabinet1 correctly.

Thanks for help

Keep in mind I'm a PBX tech not data. But I don't see why the customer cannot programm that one VLAN port on the far end data switch to be in same subnet. I also think as said a straight through cable should be used. I put in 2 systems like this but did not program the cisco routers that was the customers job. I just explained to them what I needed and it works great. My config looks almost the same as your but a few items are different.

Hi

I`ve found it.

New route 10.2.1.2 10.0.1.200 0 1
Then reboot the main cabinet
After that cabinet 1 connect to Main

=> prt route

My fault was, i always programmed a new route for cabinet 1
I have to programm a new route for cabinet 0 port 1 and
reboot the main.

Thanks for help

WILL IT BE THE PROBLEM ABOUT THE CISCO ROUTING OR THE FIREWALL IF THE CUSTOMER HAS.

Anyone have first hand knowledge with respect of the licencing ? ie . I was told Nortel would need to licence via keycodes the number of IP trunks I required - such that 1 IP trunk would route 1 call from PBXswitch-router-router-PBXswitch. Any ideas?
