Hi all,

I have a customer where we installed IP Dect with Gigasets as the preferred handset. The gigasets register and make calls fine but will not handover when moving to a different base station.

After a lot of research, it seems that the devices need to be both GAP and CAP compliant to have handover work. Gigasets are all GAP compliant and some of the high end are partially CAP compliant but I from my research, they will not work either.

My question is, has anyone got a 3rd party handset to work?

I have no issue with gigasets on the previous (DeTeWe) Dect system.

Thanks

Ian

How did you register that Gigaset? What model is it? Do you use it as a SIP? I'd guess it is as long as is registered on IP dect but it's better to ask.

Ok so, just because they worked on the DeTeWe IP-DECT doesnt mean they will work on the Global IP DECT system. Especially since it is manufactured by Ascom (they are not very 3rd party friendly). Have you spoken with Mitel Tech about this issue?

I doubt Mitel will get involved in that as I don't think handover is their problem. As long as the SIP client works fine, I'd guess is nothing wrong with the config on 3300 side. Is more wireless IP. The IP DECT are repeaters and they comunicate back to the IP Gateway which is linked to the 3300. If handover doesn't work, this relates to the communication between 2 repeaters and not to the 3300. It's like having a wireless AP's and the laptop disconnects for a few seconds when move from one to another. In telephony this would disconnect the call.

Hi Guys,

Yes it is a sip client to the Mitel. I use the E49H. They are in an environment that is hard on phones, so they are alot cheaper to replace than the Mitel handsets.

I have not contacted Mitel support, I doubt they will assist as it is not a Mitel related issue. I am sure the issue is device related.
I understand it is Ascom and I have contacted them directly with out much luck. Ip Dect required both GAP and CAP compliance for the solution to work.I understand this. I am hoping someone has got a 3rd party handset to work.

I will be testing a couple of handsets over the next few days and will advise if I get one to work in case there are other interested people.

The problem I have run into is registering ones right next to each other......it ends up registering to the wrong base. Do a good distance from other ones one at a time is my rec.

Always look out for the next guy because it may be you!
