When we use Siemens Gigaset towards Avaya IP DECT R4 we get a wierd scenario. Everything works just fine, but when you recieve or make a call from the Gigaset, the incoming or outgoing number is viewable for about 0,3 seconds, then the screen goes blank. If we let the phone ring, the number reappears after exactly 20 seconds. None of the timer in IPO Manager is set to 20 sec as far as I have seen.. Anyone who know what is happening? Thanks!

Manager cannot effect the Siemens handset in anyway, neither can the DECT system, it is using GAP compliancy to make/take the calls which cannot be chnaged, you need to use the correct handsets for the DECT R4 system to remedy this or look at the handsets themselves :)

We have a dealer who has set up different kind of Gigaset and also old Doro DECT phones against an Avaya IP DECT R4 and it works 100%.. So I know its possible. But the technical guy is abroad and unavailible and I'm sitting at the customer now... I just have to test some more.. But thanks for the reply! :)

As I say I imagine it's settings in the handsets themselves, It's certainly not Manager anyway :)

Thats true.. :) I'll compare the firmware on the solution that works to my firmware and see if its the same.. Hopefully different firmware is the problem.

Hello

I'm having the same problem. Can you tell me the model and firmware versions of the Dect Phones so I can test in my scenario?

Thank you

Hi, I'm sorry to say that we had to replace the Siemens Gigaset with Avaya DECT phones. Gigaset only works the old Avaya system; IP DECT and not on DECT R4. This is because DECT R4 only works with gap AND cap compliant phones. Gigaset only supports GAP. When the handset goes "blank" when making or recieving a call, the handset gets a displayupdate from the DECT Base through CAP standard. Since Gigaset does not support CAP the display goes blank.

The GigaSet Proffesional line supports Gap/Cap and should work on Dect R4

Hello again.

Thanks for the response. I was afraid of this, once I started to read some of the AVAYA's papers and other foruns.

But I must informe that I did have succes with one model: Gigaset A58H. It is a fairly simple model, but I did NOT have the "caller ID" problem...
Anyway, here's the information for future reference.
