IP Dect R4 phones randomly un-subscribe? 2

Have upgraded to the latest 8.1 build and upgraded the dect phones to match and still get phones un-subscribing. Has anyone found a solution to this yet? Customer has now started calling the system a Nightmere so really need to find a fix for it.

system has 7 3720 dect phones and the V2 Compact IPO Base station, coverage is not a issue as it's only a small office.
 
I guess you have those 7 phones in a group?
When you have then this is causing the issue.
The problem is that the compact basestation only has 4 channels and when you ring a group with more then 4 phones there is always one phone who goes in to some kind of lock mode.
You need to turn it off and on and then it works again.
There are two solutions.

1 be sure that there are no more then 4 phones active
2 replace the compact basestation with a normal basestation.

I have been there and replaced two compacts for normal basestations and the problems vanished straight away.

The most I have in any ring group is 4 dect phones but would it also happen if one of the phones that was not in the group was being used and then a call was put through to a group with 4 other dect phoens in it?

If this is the case then it should be counted as a bug that Avaya needs to fix?
 
Have you reported this bug to Avaya already and if so what was there reply?

also would adding a 2nd compact base station also fix the issue?
 
If one phone is on a call then 1 channel is in use.
When you call the group then you need 5 channels and that is not an option.

I have not raised it as a bug but it seems that the compact reacts different on this then the normal base station.
Adding a second basestation could do the trick.
If you have the time and IPOSS then log it as a bug.
Proove them that this works on a normal basestation (more then 8 calls to the phones without problems, only 8 will keep ringing but not a failing phone) and a compact basestation (more then 4 calls and a failing phone)
But this will takes more time then that a normal basestation would cost you.
Talk to the customer and take back the compact and put in a normal basestation.
That few hundred dollars costs is something you should talk about.
Tell them if it fixes the issue then pay otherwise swap it back to the compact and raise it.

Make sure the base station is plugged into a UPS this is the only way I was able to fix the problem. The compact base stations seem to be very sensitive to power spikes. If they loose power they revert to the default European settings.
 
That has nothing to do with this.
But there is a no user source number for that preventing the revert back.

Went to site today but could not get it to fault. Have lowered the hunt groups to a max a 3 dect phones in any group to try and stop it happining though.

tlpeter Were you able to get it to fault all the time or was it random with your sites that had the issue?
 
It happened to me all the time.
But they had around 15 basestations and a lot of phones so it was a bit more difficult.
Get yourself a compact basestation and connect 5 phones and put them in one group.
Then call that group.
I bet one will stop responding straight away.

Peter do you know what the source number id to stop it reverting? Every site I had installed the Dect 4 on would unregister the phones randomly. Ever since I put them on UPS's no more unregistering!

I also have this problem at a customer's site... however, no 3740 IP Dect phones are in any of the huntgroups :s

Customer has a mix of standard and compact base stations. Sometimes they de-register themselves compeltely, sometimes the user is only logged out and has to signin again...

Maybe it has to do with the sensitivity to power variations, but then again, wouldn't all phones de-register? Customer has about 20 of them spread out (unevenly I must admit, yet base station layout seems to provide enough channels at any given time) in the production area.

Lilmart,

Login in to the compact basestation and have a look on how many calls there are going on.
Then get a phone and call it when you are straight under that basestation.
See what happens.
I guess it will fail become it tries to use that basestations and not a different one near by.

We also had a site recently where phones were doing this on a compact base station, at first we thought it was because they had 6 handsets in a collective group, we amended this and monitored and it was still happening even when there definitely were less than 4 handsets active on the base station.

After a bit more investigation we turned off provisioning on both the base station and the IPO and fingers crossed the issue hasn't occured again since.

Pepp77, are you talking about the users randomly login out problem, or the phones unsubscribing problem?

I was told there were some issues with the "Provisionning" method, but the advantages were by far greater than an "unprovisionned" installation in my opinion.

It's really getting the user pissed off to have to occasionnaly login the phones, and it's gettign me pissed off to have this problem appear on random sets at random times... And unfortunately the customer is too far for me to just drop by and run some tests...

Just had a brainfart...tell me what you think of this:

User cannot login or out when there is no password set under "User->Telephony->Supervisor settings".

Would removing all passwords from this field resolve the issue of phones logging out by removing the ability to do so?

Without a password you cannot login and logout.

... Assuming the system will be limited too by this feature and won't find some funky bypass to logout users.
