Hi, I just installed a new DECT R4 IPBS2 station across the street from my working DECT system and my 3720 phone can only receive calls but cannot make calls. I have this new station set up as Master Air Sync mode, Sync region 1. It is registered with the master station. Audio is very clear when I call it. But when I try to make a call from this phone while in the same building with the new base station, I don't hear ringback and the call doesn't show up in System Monitor or System Status. I do get an RTP error in Diagnostics/Events (no media data received) and an H323 error (signalling timeout). When I walk across the street where the Master base station is I can make and receive calls.

Anyone experience any problems like this? I have extra SARI certificates so I could make this base station a master but I really want to be able to walk back and forth between buildings and have the phone work in both places.

Thanks for looking.

Go near the base station, power cycle the phone and see what happens.

Could it be to close to the other basestations(s) so that it needs to be in the same region?
You cannot have a different region if the phone can reach the other region!

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

The region could be the problem. The new base station is across the street, about 500' away. I'll try reprogramming it as a slave in the same region. If I do it this way would the phone work in both buildings, but just not hop to the next base station to get the strongest signal? Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I'm back on-site now, I power-cycled the phone while I was next to the base station and this didn't affect anything.

I made the new base station a slave like all the others this resulted in the phone being completely nonoperational. It was searching for the master station and it lost its synchronization with the master.

Lastly, I put the new base station back into Region I and I can receive calls again but can't make them. Looking at Diagnostics/Events I am getting H323 Signalling Timeout errors when I try to call from this phone. I get ping replies from the new station to the master and the new station is in sync with the master.

Look at you Dect line. If you have allow Direct media Path checked uncheck it. I had something similar awhile back and this resolved it.

Thanks NYSTECH, I had Direct Media Path unchecked already. I've got Wireshark installed on my management PC. I have no idea how to use it but I will capture all the traffic hitting my IPBS2 and try to figure it out. Seems like it has to be a network/NAT issue.

Hey Guys,

This issue has been resolved. I removed the IP DECT line from the IP Office control unit located in the same subnet with the new IBPS2 station, then power-cycled the bast station. After the base station came back up, which took a little longer than usual, I was able to make and receive calls.

In a nutshell, the IP DECT line built in the remote IP Office not only is not needed but actually prevented the DECT phone from working properly.
