I am setting up a new Codec for some VOIP trunks between sites. I made the changes and hit enter but the CM is telling me that "WARNING: Change may interrupt audio to IP endpoints until they are rebooted"

Does this mean only IP endpoints associated with this codec or ALL IP endpoints will be re-booted?

I should add that codec is not in use currently...

I’m changing Codes sets all the time (usually adding, not removing codecs) and have not yet dropped any calls. I believe the warning message is more general, telling you you will drop calls if you remove a codec currently in use by a device it is associated with

How do I set-up IP trunks between sites. A vendor talked to me about it at the Avaya Conference last week in San Diego. Said I needed to set-up H.323 trunks at both site and access the network through CLAN. I can't find anything in adding a trunk group that refers to H.323. I think there is more to it that he left out. Like what additional cards do I need? Is QSIG involved. This will be our first bold step into IP and I am quite lost for the admin here.

You need a C-LAN and either a MedPro or Crossfire board, and depending on your software level, IP Trunk RTU.

Add the C-LAN addresses of the remote switches into the node-names file.

Create a new Trunk Group, type ISDN. For the Carrier Medium use IP.

Create a new Signaling Group, type H.323. Use the local and remote C-LAN names and port 1720.

Go back to the Trunk Group and add port IP with the Signaling Group number.
