Hi
I Have 2 linux server, 1 novell server and 1 w2k server.None of them is running DHCP except w2k server. My router DHCP is set to disabled.

My router is set as a gateway. My router is connect to the switch for dialup to the net.

My question is how to find the culprit that is brodcasting my router IP Address.

I confirm that the w2k DHCP dosent broadcast the IP cause i did IPCONFIG form w2k pro workstation and i dosent get the gateway ip.

Is the gateway within the IP Scope on your DHCP server? If so, make sure you add that address as an exclusion. Double check to make sure your other servers aren't running as a DHCP server, as they wouldn't need to be authorized in AD (if you're using it). Darrell Mozingo

there is no way your router will broadcast its own IP address if you dont use its own DHCP service, it will provides all the computers connected to it with all the information they need, such as the gateway address, but only if it uses the DHCP service. If you are using DHCP on the server, tell (type it manually) the server to advertise the whole network you have, with the IP address of that gateway. When you configure the DHCP, you have the options of what information besides IP addresses the DCHP service will provide to the workstations, so in this case you must add the IP address of the gateway.

Yesterday i stay till 2 midnigh at office and i figure out is:

This problem arises when i configure user to dial-in to my w2k server. Because w2k is Ad so bill gates says you must use remote access routing to configure.....and so...

all the work station dosent have any gateway nor proxy server configured on the IE properties

The w2k router is configured AS RAS Router NOT Local Router
At the IP ROUTING-GENERAL i can see 3 thing
1.Loopback
2.Local Area Connection
3.Internal

What i did is to disable the no.2 connection. I solve my problem and i make a new worst problem That is
1.When a Workstation is specify a gateway still can't get acces to th net
2.When i want to access my web server( diffrent server),dosent'get connected

WHat i did't understand is......
Evertthing before RAS it's ok....I dont care how this w2k do the routing( info: w2k is dns & wins server)
Now i dont understand is why now the w2k is using the RAS to route my internal network packet....i never configured it as a local router....
I gonna call ms hotline today to sue them....

I

listen can you organize a little bit your ideas so we can understand better..
what did you mean with all this
1.When a Workstation is specify a gateway still can't get acces to th net
2.When i want to access my web server( diffrent server),dosent'get connected

workstation is specify ?? what does that mean to you?
and in doesn't get connected...are you using the name ? is confusing...try to be more clear...so we can help.
i dont know what your using RAS on your server...? Did you did that because you wanted to? RAS stands for Remote Access Service

OK i'll try to explain.....
My network is configured something like this:
ISDN ROUTER to SWITCH to ALL WORKSTATION ( Runing 95/98/Mel/2000 pro)

Previously when i want to let that workstation to connect to the net i specify the router ip at the TCP/Ip setting at the gateway tab on each workstation.

ok now When i want to accept incomming call in to my AD server, the wizard says something like this " Because this is a domain controller, you need to configure remote dial in through Routing and remote access console"

So there the story goes...and all the problem arises.

Ok, now when i have enable the ROUTING AND REMOTE ACCESS CONTROL on my server, all workstation with router ip specified(in thier tcp/ip setting) or not can access the net.

so i go to to ROUTING AND REMOTE ACCESS CONSOLE under the IP ROUTING i

can see there is 3 thing
1.Loopback
2.Local Area Connection
3.Internal

When i check the my server propoties under the same console, i sow it was enabled as REMOTE ACCESS SERVER not ROUTER. Ok thats fine.

So i think the second item LOCAL AREA CONNECTION is the culprint. So i disabled that item by go the properties and uncheck ENABLE IP ROUTER MANAGER and this is what happen.

1. A workstation that has not be configured with router ip address cannot access the net - thats fine problem solve
2.But a workstation that is configured inside the tcp/ip setting for the router ip address also cannot access the net. That is the problem.
3. i even try to access my IIS main page from a workstation using also cannot access.
4. i cannot ping my w2k domain controller but i can ping other linux server in the network. It seems that the w2k is gone form the network

what i dont undestand is:
1.i dont understand at all

i did call microsoft that morning but they say Sorry sir , you need to pay for a professional support.....so i did call the support center and this what the solution is given
you can add a second w2k server in your LAN and join as a member server, and accept incomming dial in user from that sever. Then you disable the RRAS services on the domain controller. Then your problem solve.

I think thats how bill gates is rich now
