Total noob question. I have someone that I asked for their public IP range for their office locations, he returned the following. How do I translate the following into an IP range such as

201.12.1.1 through 201.12.1.254

Their information provided is;

66.88.120.0/24

or ip's with /25

What does this mean? Thank you for any input!

IP Address : 66.88.120.0
Address Class : Classless /24
Network Address : 66.88.120.0

Subnet Address : 66.88.120.0
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Subnet bit mask : nnnnnnnn.nnnnnnnn.nnnnnnnn.hhhhhhhh
Subnet Bits : 24
Host Bits : 8
Possible Number of Subnets : 1
Hosts per Subnet : 254

Subnet Mask Subnet Size Host Range Broadcast
66.88.120.0 255.255.255.0 254 66.88.120.1 to 66.88.120.254 66.88.120.255

Thewre are 32 bits in a subnet mask. The /24 means that there are 24 bits set in this network's subnet mask. It is shorthand for 255.255.255.0

If you don't know what a subnet mask is, I suggest you read through the excellent tutorial on tcp/ip at

66.88.120.0/24 basically means 66.88.120.1 through 66.88.120.254
