IP address help

I dont know if this applies here but i would like to know if there is any way that i can figure out the ip address and subnet mask of a person that i had a conversation with on aim. They are harrassing my young cousin and shes scared. I want to you this to locate them and you to report to the appropriate athorities. Thank you very much. Any reply would help.

See if you can get them to accept a file transfer.
While the file is transferring, do a Start, Run, netstat -a
to find out the IP.

I think I have this right, as I saw the suggestion somewhere here recently.

You really might want to send an email to AOL and report the abuse.

You should be able to report this to the ISP and have them monitor the connection if you can get this individual to chat again....

also consider that they probably have a dynamic ip. the isp may have a log of who had what at what time so keep a log of the time and date along with the ip. and do not waist time informing aol.
