Is there a command that you can type at the command line which will show IP address for a network printer?

If you know the network name of the printer, ping -a should do it, if your DNS is correctly set up.

CE :)

try doing an NS lookup on the printer name. If it's in the Wins properly, it will show up. You can also try nbtstat on the printers MAC address.

Just go to settings, printers, and the driver of the printer in question and click properties. Click on the port tab and if it's a network printer the port will be the IP address Thanks in advance for your response(s)!

That rather depends on whether the printer has been setup at the workstation, wouldn't you think?

:)

it only takes 30 secs to load the driver. Thanks in advance for your response(s)!

Citrix is correct - to find out a printer's IP means any PC should be able to find that information. Using TCP/IP or ICMP ping commands will resolve the name to an IP regardless of whether or not the printer is installed localy - which is what Tatchina meant i believe.

If all you want is an IP for a network device, Cirtix's suggestion will work without installing anything - no need to install anything to obtain an IP on a network.
