When configuring the APE processor IP addresses there are two values. One is configured in AMO APESU for the IPDA/LAN. One is configured in UBA for the APE
to run/retrieve backups, remote analysis, etc.
In reading through the complex configuration manuals there is no clear explanation of the operation/reason for the IPDA/LAN port. I assume it has something to do with failover when the NCUI looses connectivity to the main site. Is that port pinging something or being pinged by something? Just looking for an explanation.
There is probably someone out there who knows the technical reason for this port to exist. Thanks for any information.

I am learning because I'm going to have 6 remote shelves after this whole upgrade is done - well, 7 if you consider one site will have 2 cabinets. in my case I believe the IPDA/LAN port will provide the connectivity to my other sites across the LAN, and I believe there is a heartbeat that gets sent across. If the remote site loses the heartbeat for some configurable amount of time it kicks the system to emergency mode and the APE runs it. Then when it sees the heartbeat again, after some configurable amount of time it kicks back over.

Or at least that's how I understand it is supposed to work.
