I have HP-UX 11.00 server with 4 lan interfaces, I changed an IP address of one of them.
the server become very slow and the telnet session take about 10 min. to open - (I telnet the server through another interface attached to my lan rather than the changed interface).
when I change back the old ip address of this interface , everything was OK.
can any one tell me why this problem happened.

Another Problem....
after reboot. non of the following network commands work !!!!

# sam
sh: sam: not found.
# lanadmin
sh: lanadmin: not found.
# ping
sh: ping: not found.
# ifconfig
sh: ifconfig: not found.

Can anyone Help ????

Thanks in Advance.

have you checked the logfiles under /var/adm and also /etc/rc.log for any spurious messages?

/etc/rc.log does not contain any usefull information or dates

and /var/adm/syslog doesnot has any errors about this issue

echo $PATH and check shell is looking in the right places for commands.

Check filesystems are mounted - bdf

I think ping lives under /usr/sbin, so try running /usr/sbin/ping <host> and the same with ifconfig

you can use a script in the system for setting up your extra ip addresses: it is

"/sbin/set_parms addl_netwrk"

this will give you the lans to be configured. You can also check with a "lanscan" command to see what is configured and what is not.

you can do a non permanent configuration of your lan by using the command
"ifconfig lanx inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up"
you obviously have tp put in your lan number and correct ip address/mask, but this will work until you next reboot.
the script shown above will do a permanent job for you
hope this helps
