Same as thread940-1147667

I have a customer phone that says Extension in use press # to register. Phone worked for days. Exact same problem metioned in thread above...

Please help

We see that with any IP phone when the phone gets rebooted. We gave up trying to find an answer and just tell our people to press the # button.

# button does not fix this. Can not get the phone registered period. Cant log it into a new extension or anything. After hitting pound and unregistering ext in use the screen just goes blank...

The log says 5480725mS RES: Tue 18/7/2006 12:39:56 FreeMem=48848376(7) CMMsg=5 (6) Buff=100 615 498 568 5 Links=9766 Elements=119

CMPhoneStatus
Line: type=NoLine 0 Call: lid=0 id=-1 in=0
Product Unknown
Cause=18, No user responding/No response from remote device

I've tried deleting the extension in manager and re-adding it...

I have had this problem on many ip extensions where u just hit pound and unregister the in use extension.. This is a different kind of problem.

Any help would be much appreciated

Turn autocreation extension off in the gatekeeper might solve the problem.

Thanks Intrigrant,
Tried that still no go...

Ok. Well after reading all the forums i could find, seems everyone i read dealt with the same Linksys WRV54G, so even tho the VPN tunnel was working with no other issues, the phone would give the Extension in use error - cause 18 in the monitor. Defaulting the router and rebuilding the tunnel has at least temporarily fixed the problem, thanks to all those who replied.

how did you set the tunnel ?
what is the time before it reconnect's ?
i had this when it was set to 300 sec
after the 300 seconds the speech was gone wile it was still connected
i set the time to 28800 sec and the problem was solved
i now almost nothing about vpn but got it working with d-link vpn routers (that easy it is :) )

I ran into a similar problem where a customer had an two IP Phones, and converted them to digital. When he tried to reactivate those IP Phones as other extensions they tried to autolog onto the IP Office and would give him errors of wrong phone type. The only way I found to break "the loop" was to reprogramm the IP Addresses to lead the phone someplace invalid, from there the "loop" was broken, I could then wipe the phone clean and start from scratch. Ever since I did that I had no problem.
