Trying to install a valcom 1030 paging horn on an IP 500 basic - Rls 9.1 Key mode
Program #617 I have station 25 as the loud speaker paging port, when I program a button for loud speaker paging I get a busy tone when pressing the button. What am I missing. I'm rtfm and cant find any detail installation guide lines, can I get a little help please, Thanks gurus.

Extension 25 is card 2 port 8 so assuming this is a phone8 or combo card that should be fine. You set to loud speaker paging in the user setup so that is fine. My guess would be it is missing the 600ohm resistance (dont know the 1030 valcom or feel like looking up a manual). You can verify this with a butt set or analog phone. Plug in the butt set or analog phone into this port, go offhook, and page and I bet it works. If this works but you get busy going to paging it is missing the 600ohm resistance. Bogen makes a part for this purpose (part number escapes me right now... long day).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

We use the Valcom VMT-2. Cheaper than the WMT1A. It is also a true 1:1 600 ohm isolation transformer. The WMT1A is a 600 ohm to either mic or line level audio. It is what we use for mixer/amps that usually have the RCA input.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*
*(Disclaimer for all advise given)--'Version Dependent'

Thank you very much, I swear Its not in any manual I've seen, Thanks again.

We ALWAYS use an isolation transformer - and like budbyrd, VMT-2 is our go-to for this application. You didn't mention how the "button" is programmed. It should be a dial paging shortcode with that station (or a hunt group that includes that station) as the target.

That is not how basic works as far as a paging button. You don't make a dial paging button or point it at the station or hunt group. There is simply a simultaneous page button that pages whatever you setup as the paging speaker and the first calling group.
