I have one site out of many, that has been reporting problems with their IP 4621 telephones.

They say that sometimes when their telephone rings and they pick up that it sometimes takes several seconds to hear the person on the other end, or they never get to talk to the person at all.

They also say that sometimes when they pick up a line it can take up to 3 seconds or longer to get dial tone.

I can't seem to re-create this problem when I do testing with them. I'm stumped!

Can anyone tell me where to start looking?

In your network
voice problems is 99% a routing problem

My first response would be network issues, specifically QoS on the network. I run the same phones, but I haven't had those kind of problems yet.

Do you run your voice traffic in a separate VLan?
Do you have your voice traffic setup in different net regions?

Please share more of your setup, and may be some of us might be able to help.

gblucas -- My first guess would be that it may be a QoS issue. This site is an LSP off of the our main location. The branch office is configured for CoS and all voice traffic is on it's own VLAN.

However in contract at our main location, we have not implemented CoS due to some a hardware incompatibility issue. If this is my problem, it may give me enough ammunition to get my hardware upgraded.

Thanks!

You realy need to have QOS
Voice needs higer priority then data
If not you will have delay and voice can not have delay
