So i have a IP406 ds system installed with to dig dcp and one analog insert. Sorry if i'm not explaining it right, not to familar with phone systems.

So currently i have 2 t1 lines pointed at the phone system giving me 48 channels. 1 of those circuits is a PRI.

Now the boss says the bills for this is extremly high, around 3k a month. Is there any alternative to using 2 t1 lines on this system to save money? Any tips or ideas on how to save money on phone bills.

Thanks.

You could look into Sip, look for a providor in your area it will require extra licences and hardware mind!!

Or consider how many channels you really need... Can you get away with one DS1 instead of two?

I have 25 users and 15 out of those users have 2 phones that need to be able to have a call in progress and 1 or more on hold. 2 t's = 48 chanels so i believe i would need both.

Check around town for different phone service providers. Logix, Cbeyond, XO, and others can give you 48+ voice channels over a single T1 using VOIP technology. This can either be via SIP trunks to the IPO or via the PRI/T1 cards you already have.

Do some shopping for cheaper service, or find a vendor you trust to help you find the best compromise in price/features.

i agree with kmefford, you are paying too much. here in florida we pay around $500 a month for a T-1, i would shop around.

No...i paying for the lines....and also the long distance charges...monthly. and our buisness we have to make long distance calls.

Who ordered the PRI's.
2 Phones as opposed to extra call appearances per phone ?

I think a 1 PRI and some sip channels would work.
BUT, to help make education decisions, and this is what I would think you're trying to do...

What is the peak average of voice channels in use ?
Have you eyeballed call status to see ?

You don't necessarily need xlines by xemployees. You need as MANY lines as you would need & 3-5 more that would be in use during peak times. In addition to a cost analysis, I would take it from there. If not, take it to a *pro* who can guide you.

I suspect you have too many lines already & or a bad combo of a really crapshoot deal in your pri in both circuts and rates.

Do as mobiledynamics says and check system status, if a number of the channels you have have been idle for much longer than all the others you can probably do without them. Also out of interest why do they have 2 handsets instead of 1 with multiple call appearence buttons?

I have seen this a lot with company's who do a lot of auction
They need to have two or sometimes three calls at the same time without the caller on the other hearing prices etc etc etc
It is al about speed and money
