Hi teks!

I have a little problem. I have some people behind a Cisco ISR 871 who wants to connect to a ms pptp server
behind another firewall. The clients connect fine but when they try to access rdp it starts to load but stuck after one second or so.
I can ping the terminalserver but not access it via RDP. I have checked cisco´s techsites but there is nothing there that i havent done.

IPsec clients like cisco and checkpoint work fine.

Is port 3389 open? That's the default RDP port. Can use other ports with a registry hack on the server end.

Do i really need to open port 3389? Shouldnt all traffic be routed via the pptp tunnel? I have permit IP any any on the inside interface. I can browse the the remote servers thru explorer.exe. The issue is with RDP.

If the application begins to start but hangs it sounds like it might be an MTU issue. Windows 2000 and upwards uses a fixed MTU of 1400 so it should be OK as long as there are no links in the path where the MTU is less than 1420-odd. Are you blocking ICMP on the 871? It might be worth debugging the 871 when a client attemps to connect.

Some info here:

I have been testing with different mtu´s but not getting it to work. But with your links it might be better. I will get back to you

This was related to my other post. The router ios was crap and after updating ít works
