Hello all! I'm using CR10 with an Excel spreadsheet and some of my data is missing from my results in the product string field. Here's what I have..

I have 3 groups, Territory, Project# and Order#. In the details I want to see the qty, product and series that pertain to the order. I get all the data for the qty and series, but the data for the product is sporadic; sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. What I can't understand, is that all fields show in the Excel spreadsheet but doesn't show in my report.

Can anyone help me????

If you haven't heard this before, Excel is a horrible dtaa source.

As for getting sporadic data back, it could be several things. Are you getting part of the data sometimes, or is it an all or nothing concern?

When you say all fields show in Excel, do you mean that you don't get some of the fields in Crystal, or you don't get some of the data in Crystal?

Data in Excel should be row and column based, with no merged cells.

Try posting an example of what you have and what you're getting from Crystal, a typed description rarely conveys requirements well.

Unfortunately, I haven't heard Excel is a horrible data source. I guess that figures.

The data I'm getting is sporadic...I get part of the data.

I don't get all the data in Crystal even though it's all showing in Excel. The data in Excel is row and column based and I don't have any merged cells.

Here's what I have in Excel:

Territory Project# Order# Qty Product Series
3 1234 567 8 83750A Bike
13 9876 568 5 92837B Tire
4 7298 569 3 27474A Bike
3 2647 580 2 76253C Handlebar

Here's what I'm getting in Crystal

Territory Project# Order# Qty Product Series
3 1234 567 8 83750A Bike
13 9876 568 5 Tire
4 7298 569 3 Bike
3 2647 580 2 Handlebar

Does this help?

Hmmm, doesn't help me to clearly resolve this, but helps me to understand the concern...very odd...

What type of connectivity are you using? There are 2 that come to mind, File Type or ODBC, I'd try the opposite of what you're using now, and also apply the CR 10 service pack:

OK...I applied the service pack and that didn't help so I then imported the .xls to an access db and used that as my datasource. IT WORKED!!!

Thanks for all your help!!!
