I'm sure there's a teckie out there that can help resolve my problem. My PC refused to reboot one day (no screen pics) so I started with power supply still the same, So at this point I thought that if it was CPU or Mobo. I would upgrade both at the same time. Replaced both with Asus A7N8X with an XP2100+. Machine sprung into life but half way through loading it froze & refused to go any further. I've tried booting via disc with no joy so I replaced H.D. with a spare I had and loaded XP Pro from scratch. I now have a working PC but need to recover data off old disc which is a Maxtor 120Gb. When I put this disc as a slave on the same IDE cable the H.D. is recognised and is listed in the hardware profiles as a working device but it does not mount in the "My Computor" screen with a drive letter. I tried returning disc to master settings and installing as master on secondry IDE cable with the same results. You can access disc via DOS and see data OK. Any suggestions on how to get disc working or transferring data to another disc would be appreciated. Cheers. Ralph.

If you can see it in "computer management\disk management", you should be able to give it a drive letter in disk management.

Hi Garebo. As soon as you right click on facility to address drive nothing happens, it does not respond at all but thanks for the suggestion.

well, if you can see the contents of the drive in dos, then you can use the xcopy command to copy whatever you want to your c drive.
