I am thinking about using a pocket pc type device to do physical inventory. I created an application were the barcode is scanned and the operator would input the quanity available. This is in a access database that was originaly created from exporting the items from the inventory tables. My question is I would like to update the inventory tables via a batch or a live odbc connection. I would like to retain the greatplains functionality of any inventory discrepencies. What tables would be used to update the quanity.

Thanks
Tim

not safe to do what you're proposing.

safer bet would to be populating an access database with quantity counts and then use something like integration manager or econnect to bring your batch into an inventory transaction for posting.

if you modify the quantity master and then run an inventory reconcile, you'll blow away your changes. Plus you won't get a proper GL entry for the addition or deletion of inventory.

I was thinking more along those lines. I have not used integration manager before. Would have any suggestions how to do this.

In the Customer Source there is a good guide for IM.
If not there, I believe it's in one of the GP CDs (if you purchased Integration Manager)

Good Luck!

integration manager is pretty intuitive, I haven't used econnect much but it's supposed to be as easy.

Might be worth a few hundred dollars to have a consultant come in to give you a bit of direction.
