I tried starting my laptop that is currently running Windows 98 and as it starts up I recieve this error message

"Invalid VxD dynamic link call from TMOUSE (01) + 000035V2 to device "000C", service 7. Your window configuration is invbalid. Run the windows setup to fix this problem.?

Do I really have to run the Windows setup to fix it? Or is there a way I can sneak by it and fix it anotherway?

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of anywhere I can get some help on this issue.

Is windows installed on C:\ ?
if so doubleclick "mycomputer"
then (C) the hard drive on which windows folder is located
then Windows folder
then system folder
then iosubsys folder
find the name of the vxd(virtual device driver) which most closely matches the error string given(TMOUSE (01) + 000035V2 to device "000C", service 7) in this case it would be/contain "tmouse"

find "tmouse" in your windows cd and extract it to the same location as the current "tmouse" by using winzip.(you can view the contents of the .CAB files with this and extract only the needed file. The .CAB files are found in the windows folder of the CD)

This will replace the file which is "calling" or looking for the device and causing(possibly) the error. If it does not, your hardware may be dammaged or improperly connected(loose).

If the mouse doesn't work at all you can use the Tab, arrow, and enter keys to move the "cursor", this will not move the mouse however.

If you want go to start>settings>control Panel>Accesibliaty Options. Choose the mouse tab, and put the "cursor" at "use mouse keys" press the spacebar to check uncheck the option then go to settings and choose your keys.
After all that you can manuver the mouse pointer(arrow) with the keyboard keys(usually the numberpad is used).
