For some reason, 4 static ip that was assign to 4 network printers stopped responding. i have 4 cisco 2050c switches and it's not recognizing these printers. i can't ping the IPs to any client computers or on the server. A friend told me that i need to disable proxy arp on the switch to resolve this. does anybody knows how to do this?

You need to disable it on the L3 interface that network resides on. Here is an example (if it's a VLAN intf):

interface Vlan 10
no ip proxy-arp

BTW - most environments don't use proxy arp, so as a best practice it should be disabled. unless your environment depends on it.

Thanks for this. How to access the L3 interface? This is my first time setting these switches. BTW its 2950C is the model of the my switches

1. show vlan brief

to see which vlan are those printers ports assigned to.

2. show ip interface brief

to see what layer 3 interface you have ( vlan interface )

3. inerface vlan *

no ip proxy-arp
