We are receiving the following error on our Intuity voicemail system:

INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly. Check for possible errors.
id: SA "su - spm -c */spm/spm319 /usr/lib/uucp/uugetty -r -t60 tty00 2400""

The software version is 4.3 and it is an 8 port system.

Has anyone had experience troubleshooting this error? Any idea what might be causing the error? Any idea how to correct the issue?

We have been told that it would require a re-install of the software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a software corruption, but if the system is still operational and responding to calls, try a soft shutdown from the main menu. Then shut the system off, remove the power cord for 30-45 seconds, plug the power back in and restart the system.
Certain Loads, if no patches have been installed to correct maintenance issues, can fill the drive with log files that can affect the system operation.

The Intuity's really need to be rebooted 2-3 times a year to clear out the garbage.

You may indeed have to reload the system, but single or sometimes multiple cold boots of the Unix OS will allow the system to clean itself up using its internal utilities, which work best from a cold boot.
If you have to reload the software, you will need a vaild backup tape of the system, otherwise a complete rebuild may be required.

phonesrus thanks for the response.

The cold boot did not fix the issue, unfortunately. Now it appears that the system will not respond when trying to leave v-mail messages.

We will try another reboot this evening.

If you have any other ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Reading the error code a little more closely, makes me think the issue is with the spm admin program which appears to be installed in the Audix box.
I looked at the maint/error codes in the maintenance book and found nothing related to the code listed, but the tty00 2400 part made a little light pop on regarding the fact that spm was installed on a lot of legend systems. This may be where the issue lies, you may be able to remove the program from the main menu software install/remove area and this might resolve your issue.
If you are able to do this be sure to cold boot the box after removal.
