Intranet Page Not Available

I have a one laptop that can not reach the corporate intranet homepage. I can ping it by name. I can hit other pages hosted by the same server, but can not get to the home page. Any ideas?

Did you try using the IP address or just the resolved name?

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

where this could be

http://192.168.0.1

or whatever the ip of the server is.

I had a similar problem after updating to IE7. My database from the network was not accepted anymore. So I added the name of the hosting computer to the trusted sites in IE, this did work.
