We are testing out an intranet at our company using Red Hat LinuX 5.2. The only way that I can get to the /home/httpd/html directory is by uploading my HTML files to a personal directory and then copying them to the html directory which takes some time. Is there anyway that I can ftp them directly to the actuall site? ThanX

PS. how can I get the eyes in X to go away?

ThanX again

1. create a soft link from your home directory to
the /home/httpd/html directory.

this is just one suggestion.

Create a user for JUST intranet stuff. make this user's /home/html the same as the URL you're using for the Intranet.

This also lets someone else cover for you if you fall off the earth
Ditto to the previous two posts about your directory question. My two cents on your xeyes question...
I assume :) you are referring to AfterStep and the eyes in the docking bar. This bar is called wharf. Each user shares a single configuration file that should be /usr/share/afterstep/wharf. If you want users to have individual configurations, copy this wharf file to each users ~/GNUstep/Library/AfterStep directory. Use your favorite text editor to edit the file. Look for the Xeyes entry and comment the line out by using a #. The line will be similar to *Wharf Xeyes nil Swallow "xeyes" xeyes &. This site has a good explanation about customizing afterstep: <A HREF=" TARGET="_new">
I've only played around with afterstep, so if your running a different windows manager, maybe someone else has some ideas.

If the eyes are anywhere else on the screen; just right-click on them & tell them to "close/die/whatever similar option is available" that should take care of them.
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net

*nix installation & program collector/reseller. Contact me if you think you've got one that I don't :)

Do you copy with the same userid you are ftping with ?
may be a userid problem (permissions)
