Intl call passcode/number code

Hi,

I'm fairly new to Avaya system. I understand I can setup an authorization code to bypass a phone that doesn't have intl calling COR(I can go to any phone and make calls with this code). I think the FRL has to be higher on the Route pattern than the COR for this to work but I'm not sure.

What I want to do is create some kind of number code to be used for certain extensions in order for them to make intl calls. So their COR will be able to make National calls but not intl. Then if they want to make intl call, they input the code. I'm not sure if I need a Route Pattern or something in ARS or an Authorization Code or even an FAC. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
 
I use a COR (example COR 30) with FRL 7 for International and another COR (example COR 31)with FRL 5 for National only. I then have the individual auth codes as 30 or 31. Use cha auth command to add/remove authorization codes for individuals. Alternatively you can use another COR (example COR 3) with FRL 1 requiring use of authorization codes on the extension/station and COR (example COR 1) with FRL 7 for phones that don't require long distance authorization. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks Kash, I understand exactly what you mean and was able to get the Auth codes to work. So, this is basically setup per user, who can then use this on any phone that doesn't a high enough COR.

The second part of your answer, beginning with "Alternatively," is configuring it on an extension base vs. user base, is that right? I'm a little confused how to go about that, can you make it simpler or is there documentation that might help me understand? I'm just confused how I could allow an extension with say COR 6(National Calls), create a new COR that allows all that but requires passcode for only Intl calls. Thanks in advance, sorry for not understanding.

 
On display station, page 1, you should see on the top right BCC/TN/COR/COS. COR can be set so the staff does or doesn't require a long distance code to dial out. In the auth code command is where you assign individuals long distance codes based on FRL I mentioned above. If on my phone my COR is set for 1(not requiring LD code) then I will hear ring-back instead of stuttered tone. If, on the other hand, the COR on the station does require a long distance code (COR 3) then the station will have a stuttered tone after dialing the long distance call pending the 4 or 5 digit auth code. I put in my code then I get through with no problem. It works best to assign everyone a code so that they can still make necessary calls in public areas in a pinch. I have international access from my phone plus I have an international authorization code (by COR) so I can call using my code from a phone that in restricted by a COR. My operator's console is the only other station with this access, but obviously as I assign international codes to Administrative staff they can do just about the same using their codes.
