Hi guys!

I have a problem at a customer where all clues point to a hardware problem of the IP500v2 itself. Luckily enough we have a spare (and virgin) box in stock. The customer runs on R8.0.46 and should stay that way.
For the test whether the new box works better I want to use the same firmware as the original uses. Unfortunately this denies update to R8.1 (within 90 days) which renders this box useless for future installations if the problems persist and the box goes back to our storage.
My idea now was to upgrade my virgin box to R8.1, make a call and then downgrade it back to R8.0. My hope is that it then works with R8.0 for the test and R8.1 for a future real installation (as long as R8.1 is current).
Can somebody tell me if this could work? Or is there another way?

Thanks in advance!

The Virgin box requires a license if i am correct.
But yes you can do this the way you describe it.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I have the original SD card of the supposedly faulty box - it holds all licences.

Thanks for the answer. I'll try this today and keep you posted.

Upgrade the box to 8.1, make a test call then downgrade the box to 8.0.

Personally I would stick a R7 sd card in and make a call, upgrade to R8 (this licences the chassis with a virtul essential edition licence), then upgrade to 8.1 and it will run 8.1 without requiring the essential edition licence, doing it any other way will not give you that benefit :)
