Hi there,

I am currently trying to sort out which client is backing up how much data. Using the command: mminfo -aX gives me all I want, but what I do not know is:

is save sets the amount of real backed up data, which is accessible for recover, or is it all backed up data including the already recycled data.

The really used data in this example would either be:
570 GB or 18 GB? What is the truth? or does it lie somewhere in between?

Johanes

Code:
 $> mminfo -aX -c client

I think it is not realy a problem
you have 9052 save sets with 570 GB thats IT

3500 Full sessions with 542 GB
201 incremental with 8 GB
5351 intermediate with 19 GB (Level 1 - 9)

9052 569 GB

I hope this helps you.

hmmm... that does not really help me :-(
What I wanted to know if the line with "purged" is there additionally or not.

do I have 570 GB + 552 GB purged data on tape or
do I have 570 GB data on tape where 552 GB are purged and no more available.
that means 570 GB - 552 GB = 18 GB

still confused

I believe that richardszm is correctin the calculations.

My guess you have 570 GB on tape that is still accessible.

I would not count the purged or index information. The index information is really savesets "owned" by the backup server, and the purged savesets are probably those savesets that were removed from the media database after it passed its retention time.

If you want to be sure, you can always perform

mminfo -av -ot -c <client name>

and then add up all the saveset sizes.

Hi wallace88

thank you for your hint - just did it and ended up with what I thought it would be.

save sets reports all data on tape, regardless of the state.
To get all data, that is accessible you have to take the amount in save sets and discount the amount in purged.

So I have really 570 GB on tape, but only 18 GB are browsable. The other 552 GB are either recoverable or expired.
